General Manager of Avangard, Alexei Sopin, shared his thoughts on the team’s defeat against Lokomotiv in the Gagarin Cup semifinals this season. The series ended 4-3 in favor of the Yaroslavl side.
“This is a tough emotional moment for everyone in the club. We took a step forward, performed well in the regular season, and brought joy to our fans and ourselves. But the playoffs left a bitter taste. Not because we faced the champions, but because the series was so close and everything was within reach—that’s why losing in the semifinals hurts so much. Luck turned away from us somewhere. We will keep working and get stronger to bring a different result to the entire organization and our fans,” Sopin was quoted as saying by Championat correspondent Lev Lukin.
